Amazon’s investment into its Prime Video subdivision have definitely paid off. The commerce giant’s streaming service has some incredible shows such as The Grand Tour, The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Sneaky Pete, and a lot more.
With so many fantastic shows, a lot of which are binge-worthy, you might wish to catch up on the latest episode while travelling outside of the US as well.
Try to do that, however, and you will be greeted with a very annoying message:
“This video isn’t available due to geographical licensing restrictions”
The message itself is pretty self-explanatory. It means that because you are outside of the US, Amazon is not permitted to show you the content. Copyright laws and other legalities are to blame and Amazon is simply complying with them.

Is all Amazon Prime Video content locked if I’m outside the US?

Beware: according to NordVPN:
Amazon Prime is not currently supported on Android, iOS, smart TVs, TV devices, and various other non-desktop devices.

That is correct. This is due to Amazon Prime policy and server banning, however NordVPN is working to resolve this problem, and it should be okay soon.
Obviously it is not OK I am in Phoenox AZ and using NordVPN. Amazon blocks viewing prime.

A very few VPNs are working with Amazon Prime Video. I have tried Ivacy, express, and Nord which were working with Amazon Prime back and forth. Some time the VPNs don’t work and I am wondering why not 🙁
That is correct. The VPNs we recommend are working, but as soon as Amazon prime video detect VPN IP’s and blacklist them, you will have to wait for your VPN provider to add new servers. It’s a cat and mouse game.

That depends. Some regions of Prime do not work with NordVPN. But Prime US does work! Usually it does not work because a particular server you use is blocked, so you would need to switch it or utilize incognito mode on your browser to avoid cache related issues.
I watched my shows last night on prime (may 06 2020) and now today it is telling me I am using a VPN and to disable it. Nothing has changed on my computer so how is it that all of a sudden I have a VPN?
Hi Lawrence, a VPN server you used may be blocked by amazon prime, try another one and see if it works. You can also contact your VPN support and ask them for the best server to use with prime.
